BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced the development of a remote control relay to be launched in the first quarter of 2022. When connected to the QO Plug-On Neutral circuit breaker, this product will provide industry-leading homeowner electrical load monitoring and control, including configuration to maximize backup power in the event of a power outage. This innovation, designed in collaboration with Savant Power, adds a new level of control at the branch level to meet rapidly changing customer needs while improving safety.

The connected relay device will enable homeowners to view, monitor and control their home energy at the individual circuit level, all from the Wiser Energy app. With a more detailed insight into family activities, homeowners will be able to take action from anywhere with a richer automated experience. The relay will optimize the backup power capacity, especially to provide homeowners with flexibility when navigation is interrupted.

"As household energy use continues to increase, management needs are more important than ever for potential home buyers, which in turn gives builders the opportunity to increase the value of new buildings by providing energy management technology," Deputy President Richard Korthauer said, Home and Distribution, Schneider Electric. "The use of this technology in the construction phase provides a new step for load level control to differentiate new houses, minimize the energy costs of homeowners in this dynamic energy market, and provide new energy flexibility at the circuit breaker level. And safety level."

"Savant Power is a division of Savant Systems, Inc. that enables consumers to monitor, control and optimize energy use, reduce costs and reduce their dependence on aging grid systems," said Robert Madonna, CEO of Savant Systems Inc. "We are very pleased to be able to work with Schneider Electric to bring sustainability and efficiency to every homeowner through smart load management. For 15 years, Savant has been leading the smart home industry, driving all pillars of the home through our award-winning software platform (Including climate, lighting, entertainment, security and energy) to achieve automation."

As the most sustainable company in the world, Schneider Electric recognizes the challenges faced by today's homeowners in balancing the growing demand for residential energy, energy resilience and convenience. The new connection relay will allow homeowners to monitor and control their energy at the circuit level, including electric water heaters, ovens, HVAC systems or any other circuits. For example, if the homeowner is worried about turning the oven on after they leave the house, this will allow them to inspect and then remotely turn off the device on the circuit, thus preventing a potentially dangerous situation.

These relays will also help optimize non-utility household energy sources—including solar, energy storage, and generators—in the event of a power outage. By creating a virtual configurable critical load panel for each backup power supply, the available power can be maximized by sending the available power to only a few priority circuits until the utility power is restored. These configurations are automated through the Wiser Energy app, providing true smart energy management for today's homeowners.

The main features of the new connection relay will include:

The device will be available in the first quarter of 2022. For more information on this and other connected home innovations from grid to plug, please visit https://www.se.com/us/en/home/offers/connected-家/.
